A peek into a day in the life of a Realtor
Recently, a new member of KC Home Hub asked me, “What is your typical day like, in the life of a Realtor”? To be honest, the question felt unanswerable. My initial response likely sounded extremely boring to others.
After some thought, I realized why this question felt unanswerable. There is no typical day as a Realtor that can be explained. This might drive you to the nearest wine glass and bottle, but it is the very reason I chose to get up each day. The thrill and chase of the next house hunt!
Being a Realtor is a lifestyle choice. We, as Realtors, work days, evenings, and most weekends if we are fortunate. Yes, FORTUNATE.
Fortunately, there are days when my phone rings and any of the following occurs:
- A friend needs advice on the value of their home
- A past client is ready to sell the house I sold them and upsize or downsize
- A past client or friend referred me to someone who needs my help
- A contract is coming in on a listing
- An offer was accepted
- The house passed inspection
- A friend needs help getting her parents ready to move
- Someone needs a service provider referral
Real Estate is my “career” and I love it. It is worth the grind even when I lose sleep because - at the end of each day - I know as a community we are helping build stronger neighbors and beautiful memories!
An opportunity to serve is why I continue to chose this career. There are some days I don’t win. People may chose another Realtor, I may lose a deal, a house fails inspection, or my phone doesn’t ring. It is an emotional roller coaster of a lifestyle for sure. I found this photo online and shared it with another Realtor friend. Her response was, “No Sh*t!”
I always feel honored, blessed and thankful my skills are needed in this world no matter day, night, weekend, holiday, or even when on vacation. This is what I have known for 20+ years - and trust me, when the phone doesn’t ring, some scary feelings creep in. The trust and support my client base gives me is why I continue to improve and work hard.
